pain management

Acupuncture works great for the nausea and the sadness, but nothing seems to be working for the body aches. Body Aches. That sounds so minor. I will try and describe them for you.

Imagine being beaten and kicked to a pulp and left for dead. Every time you move, your neck grates against itself, sending deafening corkscrews of torment down your spine. Your muscles coil like rope, pulled taut to drag your lifeless lead-like carcass outta bed. Acidic poison arrows missile through your neck and torso, embittering every receptor.

I remember I have some prescription strength Ibuprofen (800 mg) leftover from a recent root canal, so I pop one and I’ll let you know how it works. I already asked the doctor if I can take Percodan. No such luck.

    Hello,
I loved reading your blog. I know how it feels to be sick of hearing yourself complain, but you do it so well! I love your images, too. I too have Hep C, am an addict of opiates and benzos. (been clean from illicit drugs for a while now), but still take methadone (which does nothing at this point), and 2mg klonopin a day. anyway, I just wanted to tell you that reading your blog has truly lifted my spirits and made me smile. You sound like a very funny and creative person. i must say I was dissapointed to see your posts had stopped in aug. 2011. I hope you are doing O.K. Thanks for making a blog about living through such tremendous suffering so enjoyable and relate-able, and fun to read. I will continue to check back to see if you have updated it.
    sincerely,
    Patrick

    • Yes thanks Patrick and I am still clear – in May. They recently told me there was a 25% chance of relapse because I quit so early so I’m glad that didn’t happen cause i don’t think i could go through the suffering again, but I am glad I did the treatment because I feel so energized not and don’t have the possibility of liver cancer hanging over my head. Glad you enjoyed the blog. Its what kept me going through treatment cause iy forced me to do something creative while I was sick.

oops….now i see you updated your blog in March. That’s great news! Reading your story makes me on the one hand want to do treatment since it seemed to have helped clear your virus, on the other, the side effects are clearly terrible. anyway I really enjoyed reading. take care!

  3. In checking new options for Hep C treatment I came across your site. I loved every bit of it as it follows much of what I went through. I kept a diary as well but creating this site is great. Unfortunately, I have tried two forms of Hep C treatment without success. The first was 2009 and then 2011 with the new drug Incivek. Went to hell and back again. After the first month my viral load was considered undetected. My doctor continued to monitor carefully but after the third month the virus was back. He tried for one more month but I had to be taken off treatment. It was causing more harm than good. I ended up in the hospital the next day with a serious sinus infection (thought it was just the side effects of the treatment), fever, anemia, etc. Spent six days in the hospital and had to have a transfusion. That was in January 2012 and to this day I don’t feel like I was before the treatment. Your site is very informative and Hep C people and their families should way the options. Since there will be another form of treatment without Interferon down the pike (two years) I wish I had waited. But then again it was my judgement at the time. Best to you and know that this has helped.

    • I am sorry the incivek did not work for you. I am hoping my HepC doesn’t retutn, but I have been UND for 6 mths after quitting at 10 weeks so my doctor says i have just a 2% chance of relapse. its good to hear there are more new treatments. I have several friends who no treatment has worked so far and they just cannot handle trying again. It is so brutal no one can possibly understand who hasn’t been through it so I am glad to share my experience in this blog. The blog kept me going because it forced me to do something creative during my sickness, which was hard but so necessary. all the best.

    What a story….Me..52 week body slam…4th week..no viral load…wanted to be 78% sure hep C wouldn’t be back…..lived with hep c for 40+ years….hit by car in late 60′s…found out after Cutter Lab blood crises…it’s tough still after 2+years post treatment….other option wasn’t great either….long story short…not a spring chicken….but liver function’s normal…..never had good comprehension on morning sickness……being male…got a big dose….plus other great effects…..worth it though
